OBEPINE+ Project is launched!

OBEPINE+ aims to build a multi-site R&D platform for wastewater-based epidemiology as part of the french national system for the prevention of emerging infectious diseases and high-risk pathogens. The aim is to analyse wastewater to detect and monitor epidemics. OBEPINE+ brings together a network of experts to implement and promote epidemiological approaches based on wastewater in France.
With the support of 9 geographical sites (workshop sites) in mainland France and overseas France (French Guiana and New Caledonia), and a network of expert laboratories and dedicated infrastructures, OBEPINE+ will be able to develop integrated R&D projects and build a high-performance system: improved methods for detecting and quantification of genomes using a molecular approach, genomic characterisation of the pathogens present in wastewater, modelling epidemiological data and, ultimately, assessment of the infectious risk. The project is led by Sorbonne University and brings together 18 partners from the private and public sectors.
