Founders - The GIS OBEPINE
GIS OBEPINE is a consortium bringing together experts in medical virology, molecular biology, genomics, microbiology, hydrology and mathematics.
It was created in March 2020 to design a new system for monitoring COVID-19 through the analysis of wastewater an approach called
wastewater-based epidemiology.
OBEPINE has 10 members partners (CNRS, Eau de Paris, EPHE, IFREMER, INSERM, IRBA, Sorbonne Université, Université Clermont Auvergne, Université de Lorraine and Université Paris Cité) and two associate members (Institut Pasteur de Guyane and Actalia)
OBEPINE was the first to demonstrate that quantifying SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater enables to track the dynamics of the epidemic. This work is now being used by OBEPINE teams to extend the WBE approach to other infectious diseases and pathogens, notably through the OBEPINE+ project.
